CHILLED WATER SYSTEM CHEMICAL TREATMENT PROGRAM
Most chilled water systems incorporate an open recirculating cooling water system with a cooling tower for condenser cooling.
Most chillers use water for heat transfer, so the water must be properly treated to prevent scale, corrosion and biological growth. A proper chemical treatment program extends life of chilled water equipment.
Sodium Nitrite, molybdate & other chemical compositions are used to prevent the chiller system from corrosion, scaling, fouling and microbiological growth.
Mainly the treatment happens in three ways: first, these chemicals react with the pipes to form a protective thin inside layer; second, the chemicals help in maintaining the pH level; and third, the chemicals remove corrosive dissolved oxygen in the water. Dosing pumps are used for applying the predetermined quantities of chemicals at regular intervals.
